Always a boy, draw on my folder
Where is the part when I get older, and
I change my mind, I always change my mind
Looking back, I spent ages
Shot in the dark then pulling myself away
I can’t decide, I never can decide
It sticks, then it stains, then it bleaches away, ’cause I know

It’s never all that I love

Walk in the park, cry on a shoulder
What of the one, and I am torn
I felt it every time, I have felt it every time
Born in the throws of violent winters
Made it my own Idiot Summer
Well, I got excited, I knew a thousand miles away I’d find it
I fear that I’m dumb, but I don’t know what to call it no more

It’s never all that I love

It’s never over
All mine have went away, but
I have felt it every time
I have felt it every time

Monday, we will miss you.

Now: Into the studio, trying to get some music out.

Listening to things like: Experimental Jet Set Trash & No Star, and Lodger

Watching:

Things to Expect: ‘Soon’ perhaps? ‘Life On Television’ maybe? What about ‘Missionary’ or ‘Careless’ or ‘All That I Love’? Didn’t know about those, did you? …That one without a name will definitely have to get a cool name. Oh, which ‘Big Star’ will we see? How will you get them? Will you have to buy a hip new turntable? Will you have to listen to it solely in your friends ‘98 Corolla that has a tape deck? It’s all up to the careless spindles, anyway.

Thank you to: Everyone that made January such a warm month.

Much to do,
Nathan Adrian

RETROGATORADE

Lunar eclipses? Mood Swings? Scrambled Huevz? I’ve had it. What kind of flavor is “Mercury” anyway. So, I’m heading to the future. If you care to join…

Here’s you’re Invitation

Life on television, watching mine
Blame it on a lack of energy
All I want to feel is flickering light
My eyes are stinging already

Million liquid crystals playing their part
A Christ descending on careless effigies
Nothing really dies when I spin off
A face reborn, no life lost

Never even had to turn it on
Just had to sit back and watch
Maybe if I’m lucky it will pull me in
When it appears so real

Flickering light, and
I am somewhere else

i have to listen to more of these

radiolab had an interesting show the other day on the science of morality. it could have been heavier, i guess, but it’s still worth it’s salt. enjoy.

Residencies

Thanks to everyone who made it out this past month to our September residencies at either La Cave in Costa Mesa or the Echo in Los Angeles. It was a productive month for the band writing new songs for each week of the residency. We really appreciate all the bands who came out and helped support the shows. We’ve got plenty of other shows planned over the next few months so hopefully you’ll catch one. In the meantime, we’ll be in our rehearsal cave finishing other new songs in hopes to get back into the studio soon.

Leave you for a blank white beach in summer
Then you can say that I’m always nowhere
You go to the hall, but then there’s no one knocking

Here/There

We will be playing at the Echo in LA every Monday night in September. Every Tuesday we will be at La Cave in Costa Mesa. Either way, they are both free, and we’ve got some great bands with us every night. You can see all the details here. See you there… or there.

There’s some talk of a mister Chuck P. spinning a Pacific Hurt bootleg on the radio late this evening. Unless my dates are crossed… If it were yesterday, would you refer to midnight as tomorrow or tonight? Or is tonight all inclusive of the a.m. hours as well? 89.9 KCRW Midnight to 3a.m. It’s our first time ever being broadcast on this wonderful station. So, thank you very much, Chuck P! Stoking us way out. It just so happens that at midnight tonight the calender will be spinning the date of my birth. How exciting! In somewhat related small talk: Do KCRW dj’s have to say, “double-u” when they pronounce the ‘w’? No one ever says “dubya” or “dubba-you.” It’s always this very proper “Double U.” Makes me laugh. Especially that one guy… You know which guy I’m talking about…
